Melanie Maxwell
Math Tutor
Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Education from Oklahoma Baptist University and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Stephen F. Austin State University. She is a certified secondary mathematics teacher for grades 6–12 and currently works with Fort Worth ISD, where she oversees the district’s teachers serving gifted and talented students. Her extensive experience in mathematics education and instructional leadership gives her a strong understanding of how students learn math and how to help them work through challenging concepts with confidence.
As a math tutor, Melanie focuses on helping students develop both their mathematical skills and their confidence as learners. She takes the time to listen to each student, identify areas where they need additional support, and explain concepts in ways that are clear and accessible. She believes students should not simply learn how to solve a particular problem, but should develop the understanding and problem-solving skills necessary to approach new challenges independently. Melanie especially enjoys helping students who may feel discouraged by math discover that they are capable of mastering difficult concepts.
Known by parents as kind, supportive, encouraging, and happy, Melanie creates a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes as they learn. Her goal is to help students become more confident, independent mathematicians while developing strong study and problem-solving habits that extend beyond the tutoring session.
Outside of education, Melanie enjoys volunteering with TCU football games and serving at Wedgwood Baptist Church through mission trips and swimming programs. She brings the same enthusiasm, patience, and genuine care for others to her work with students, making her a supportive and knowledgeable resource for students seeking to strengthen their math skills.
